3rd Africa World Documentary Film Fest offers global exposure

AFRICA WORLD
DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL
Tours Internationally
February 4 to March 25, 2010

In the Spotlight this week is the 3rd Annual AFRICA WORLD DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL (AWDFF), delivering a high-visibility platform for documentaries that examine the African experience in Diaspora and on the continent of Africa.

True to the Festival's Pan-African context, AWDFF takes place concurrently in St. Louis Missouri and Lagos, Nigeria, and later travels to Bridgetown, Barbados and Hamilton, Bermuda, where selections are screened at the Academy Award-qualifying Bermuda Film Festival. The majority of the Festival's program is comprised of the work of independent filmmakers producing high-quality films under the constraints of limited budgets. Some AWDFF success stories include PRINCE AMONG SLAVES and UGANDA RISING, which have become PBS offerings since playing at the Festival.

AWDFF presents a $1,000 USD cash prize for the top feature documentary, and $500 for the top short documentary selected. And dedicated to providing additional opportunities for exhibiting filmmakers, the Festival works to ensure the attendance of industry pros, broadcasters, and distributors, as well as reps from the major African and Barbadian Television networks that in some cases also cover the events.
